Adding honey to your diet

Using honey in your home remedies
• Citrus and honey for sore throat: Put lemon slices, grated ginger, and honey in a jar. Stir, cover, and refrigerate.
• Tea and honey for cough: Mix 2 teaspoons of honey with herbal tea or warm water.
• Lemon and honey for colds: Add 1 cup of honey and grated lemon peel to a pan. Heat it on low for about 10 minutes. Allow to sit for 1-2 hours, strain, and transfer to an air-tight jar.
• Ginger and honey for sore stomach: Heat 1 cup of honey and 1 tablespoon of chopped ginger for 10 minutes on low. Infuse for 2 hours and place in a glass jar. Cover tightly.

• Brown sugar and honey for dry skin: In a bowl, add 2 1/4 cups of brown sugar, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup honey, and 1 tsp of vanilla. Mix until fully combined, then transfer to a jar.
Raw honey may crystallize after a few months of storage. This means that the honey gets a grainy or sugar-like texture. Crystallized honey is safe to eat and has the same taste.
To make the honey liquid again, use a gentle heating technique:
1. Boil a pot of water and remove it from the heat.
2. Place the container of honey in the hot water. Do not allow the water to reach the top of the honey container to avoid contaminating it.
3. Remove the container of honey after a few minutes. If it is still solid or crystallized, repeat the process.
Do not microwave raw honey or put it directly in boiling water or on a hot stove top, as this may destroy some of its nutrients.
Recommended daily amount of honey
From Maes Honey we are going to recommend taking honey in a conscious and responsible way for your body. Like any food, an excessive intake of honey has its consequences, especially in a society that abuses the consumption of sugar.
Honey is a natural sweetener. But this does not mean that we can consume it without limits.
The recommendation for a healthy person, without weight problems, and who does not base his diet on an excessive consumption of sugars would be to take a maximum of one small spoon of honey a day. This is approximately 10 to 12 grams of honey. It is clear that everything will depend on the type of diet of each person and the amount of sugars that are taken daily.
